Dealing with mothers day when depressed

5 – “Society, have mercy on me, I hope you’re not angry if I disagree” – Eddie Vedder – Society

Mother’s Day is hard for many different people for all sorts of reasons. The world of retail and social media seems to forget those who find it difficult as we are surrounded by photos of flowers, cards, gifts, smiling faces. My heart goes out to all those who are not able to enjoy the day, who instead are reminded of painful events and life changing sadness.

Celebrities get depressed too and proves materialism doesn’t equate happiness or contentment

Celebrities get depressed too. Yes you read right, the super rich and famous don’t have it all, they may seem to on the surface but many are not complete just because they have wealth, recognition, and status. Materialism is NOT a negative thing, neither is money or the possession of it but what really matters is maybe not what it first seems. 4 – “Scream It Out Loud, Silence Is The Enemy” – Silence Is The Enemy – Papa Roach

When this period of depression initially kicked in and I posted on my Facebook page (that can only be seen by friends), that I felt bad/low, I encountered a fair amount of private messages making sarcastic, uneducated comments but thankfully I also received many positive, thoughtful comments and messages.

Several months down the line now and if I put anything about how I’m feeling on Facebook, it is only a small handful of people who comment or message.  This is fine – genuinely it is – I don’t need a response, whether everyone or no one comments is not why I post anything anymore.

3 – “So please don’t judge me, And I won’t judge you” – Don’t Judge Me – Chris Brown

It’s not that I want to die. I just want to be able to not lie awake all night, unable to sleep because the demons love the night time. To not feel like I can’t breathe because the darkness is so suffocating. To not want to run far away because trying to stick the smile on is too exhausting.

AV discusses how people react to opening up about depression

1 – “‘Cause I’ve still got a lot of fight left in me” – Fight Song – Rachel Platten

For many years I have struggled with depression.

It has affected every part of my life, I have been unable to hold onto jobs, lost friends, not been able to appreciate the joy of having beautiful babies.  The list is endless. I do not believe there was an event that caused it, nothing happened to me that meant I developed depression.

How to heal from depression in your own unique way

Recently, I have read articles discussing that there is going to be more investment in mental health and easier access to ‘talking therapies‘. Something that I feel incredibly strong about is the fact that each and every person’s experience of depression is ‘unique’ and so how a person will heal from their own personal depressive experience needs to be explored more than accepting tablets and talking therapies as the only solution because when those things don’t work you can feel like there is ‘no hope’ when hope very much STILL exists!

In this blog post the founder of BoM is going to discuss some of the different possible causes of depression, share several therapies that are known to help the healing process of depression (backed by science) and the importance of trying different therapies until you find the one that seems to work for you.
